Dampers in fireplaces that burn gas logs
When vented decorative gas logs sit in a wood fireplace, their installation instructions require the damper to stay open, normally with a clamp or stop that keeps the plate from closing. A damper that can swing shut in that setup is a problem to fix before the next use.
