The chimney comes from the same listed system
Florida's residential code, section R1005.1, requires factory-built chimneys to be listed, labeled, and installed and terminated per the manufacturer's instructions. Chimney makers are just as firm. DuraVent's DuraTech instructions tell installers to use only authorized parts and not to mix them with other products or improvised pieces.
A pipe that fits physically is not automatically approved. The fireplace manual names the chimney systems it was tested with, and our team installs one of those, from the fireplace connection to the cap. The parts are listed in your estimate for the project in Ybor City.
Offsets and elbows in the chimney run
A straight chimney is simplest, but beams, rooms upstairs or the roof line sometimes force a jog. Section R1005.7 of the Florida residential code keeps a factory-built chimney offset within 30 degrees of vertical and allows the assembly four elbows at most. DuraTech's instructions describe the same limit as two offsets.

Outside air for the fire
A wood fire uses a lot of air. Section R1006.1 of the Florida residential code requires an outside air supply for the fireplace, with an exception for a room whose mechanical ventilation keeps the indoor pressure neutral or positive. For factory-built units, section R1006.1.1 requires the air duct to be a listed component installed per the fireplace instructions.
The code also keeps intakes out of garages and basements and calls for corrosion-resistant 1/4-inch mesh over them. Our team places the intake outside, uses the kit the manufacturer lists and shows you where it is on your home in Ybor City.
Replacing a worn-out factory-built fireplace
Factory-built fireplaces wear out, and a cracked firebox or rusted panels often mean replacement. The new unit carries its own listing, and its manual names the chimney systems it can use. The old pipe stays only when it is on that list, suits the new unit and is in sound condition.
