Brick cleaning starts small. The Brick Industry Association's guidance on cleaning brickwork (Technical Note 20) calls for trying a method on a small, hidden area and letting it dry before judging the result, then choosing the gentlest method that works.

The deposit itself is usually harmless and brushes off, but it tells you water is moving through the masonry. Our specialists find that water first, then clean the face, so the bloom does not simply return.
Replacing damaged face brick
A face brick that has cracked through, crumbled or broken at the corner can be cut out and replaced without disturbing its neighbors. The hard part is finding a brick that matches in size, color and texture.
