Filling deep joints in thin layers
Deep joints are not filled in one pass. Masonry guidance builds them up a quarter inch or so at a time, and each layer has to stiffen until a thumb barely dents it before the next is packed in, which stops slumping and hidden voids.
Where old damage has left pockets deeper than the rest, those are filled first and brought level with the other joints. It adds time on site in Bayshore Beautiful, and it is what keeps the new joints solid all the way through.
